Siamese Cats

Most people are familiar with Siamese cat than they are with Thailand. The most famous of all is the Thai Seal Point cat. This is the good looking cat with blue sapphire eyes and the sleek, elegant and harmonious body colored camaieu fawn, or perhaps the “Korat” cat which has green eyes and a gray anthracite cat. As everybody well knows, cats can be divided into two groups – short haired and long haired. The long haired variety are known as Angoras and come from Persia. Its features, which are easily noticeable, are the large, square shaped head, widely separated small ears, rounded eyes and small flat rounded nose. Another cat of the long haired variety is the Sacred Cat from Burma. The Turkish cat from Lake of Van is the only cat which likes water and can swim. Most of the short haired varieties of cats which are popularly raised as pets are the European, Abyssinian and Siamese cats.

The most famous of all Thai cats, regarded being classically Thai, popularly bred and raised as pets are the Siamese cat; Seal Point, Copper Point, Blue Point; Chocolate Point; Red Point; Tabby Point and the Lilac Point. Their heads are long and pointed and they have large ears which taper to a point at the ends which are inclined to be close together. The eyes are long, oval shaped, slanted at the corners almost meeting at the bridge of the nose, but turn up at the top.

A true cat lover does not really care what color the cat may be. Whether it is black or white, spotted or strangely striped, it still remains a loveable animal faithful to its owner, even though there are times when it may become moody or show its individuality and independence.

Generally, cats are trainable regardless of the variety. If they are trained from the time they are small, they will know how to behave themselves correctly. They are easy to look after and are not fussy about their food. They like to eat rice with fish meat. They are independent and like to wander about freely looking for different things, and when they do find something, they will bring it back for their owner to see, for example, mice, green snakes, cockroaches, birds, etc.

It can be easily summed up that there are two types of cats: the type which is easy to breed and look after. They know what is right and what is wrong, and can be regarded as a blessing to have. The other type is wild, difficult to tame, cannot be trusted, will steal things and in no way can it be regarded as a blessing.
