Between 8-12 weeks old, most kittens are ready to be adopted. As an adoptive parent, it’s up to you now to provide them the proper care and environment to continue to thrive.

What will my new kitten need?

1. Proper kitten food: A kitten needs more protein and nutrition than an adult cat and for its first year, it’s important he eat food designated specifically for kittens.

2. A litter box: One size fits all, so you needn’t worry if the litter box seems too big. Your little guy will grow into it.

3. A bed, scratching post, and toys: A scratching post and cat toys will help him further develop his cat skills and provide relief for his natural instincts.

4. Grooming: While cats clean themselves with their famed sandpaper tongues, they also rely on us to brush them.

Cats can live up to 15 years or longer. Having a cat is a wonderful experience, but as said, it is also a responsibility. One that needs to be taken seriously and with a clear understanding of what adoption entails.
